An afternoon in Goshen – 8 months

We took a lovely family trip to Goshen yesterday.

Being the good parents we are, we hauled along about 50lbs of gear, including some very smart blinkie, noisy toys. Then Grandma brought out this delightful push and go truck that belonged to Eric. Buddy seemed to appreciate neither modern baby science nor classic vintage. Notwithstanding the many people eager to love, hug, coo, and peekaboo, there was no shortage of things to entertain; however, if focused attention is any indication, Bud’s hierarchy of preferred entertainment seems to be as follows:
1. His dirty sock

2. The pink bear Dan gave Kristen for valentines day, particularly yummy to taste

3. Grandpa’s buttons

Eric, Kristen, Kristen’s boyfriend Dan, and I went bowling while Grandma and Grandpa babysat. E got a personal best of 176 in game 1! And Kristen bowled a strike! Documented below – frame 2. Lest you look at the scores and think, “Wow, Katie! You’re terrible. And weren’t you in a bowling league in Moline?!” Please note: this is my second game where I more than doubled my score.

Peek-a-boo with Dada

Buddy is so full of new tricks but two of our favorites are his growing ability to say dada and his love of peek-a-boo. Often, he can even associate “dada” with Eric! Of course he calls me, Mickey, his bottle, or anything that comes into his little head “dada” too. But it’s heart-melting when it’s appropriately allocated.

Bud absolutely loves any form of peek-a-boo but his favorite is with Dada. This little giggle…it’s incredible the antics we perform to elicit this giggle. The video below is one we are willing to put out for public consumption, but believe you me, most of the time when Bud is giggling like this, the scene eliciting the reaction is for our eyes only, lest we lose the respect and esteem in which I know you hold me and E. Singing, dancing, jumping around, goofy faces…it’s like a clown try-out around here some days. I digress…this is one of the best little laughter videos!!! Notice how he gets the game and after a minute, he looks away to play himself!
