First train ride from Summit to New Providence

As we often do, this morning, we walked to the deli for coffee and watched the trains come and go. I read the NY Times while Harry ate a bagel and it was quite quaint. Until…

Bud decided he wanted to go on the train. This was a problem because he was still in his pajamas, among other obstacles.

It was a super pitiful, pooch out the bottom lip, real tears cry when I told him no. Even the conductor felt sorry for little Bud.

So this evening, I took the train to Summit to pick him up from school and we rode it home. He was SO HAPPY! Loved it.

The only issue is that he wanted to do more…I tried to explain that it’s like brushing your teeth: once at night and once in the morning. This logic prevented total meltdown but was still sad news.

  1. You are the best mom ever! Sent this to Uncle Dan…I know it will make him smile! He loves trains too Harry!! ❤ you

  2. Seeing a train everyday is as important as “brushing your teeth”. I’m watching trains right now. The big boys! I’m at the Tehachapi Loop in Ca, listed as one of the 8 railroad engineering marvels worldwide. 4unit leads of BNSF(Burlington Northern-Sante Fe) power pulling long trains up steep grades with 2 pushers often in the rear. Yes, riding a train is best, but passenger trains can’t compete with these bohemouths! I would post a picture but it won’t let me. Harry HAS to come with me when he comes here. Here comes another train!! It’s a yellow Union Pacific!
